June 5, 2018 | Oil and gas attorney Robert J. Burnett has been re-elected to the Pennsylvania chapter of the National Association of Royalty Owners (NARO) Board of Directors for a third consecutive term. Burnett has served on the board since 2012.
The National Association of Royalty Owners is an education and advocacy organization. Its mission is to encourage and promote exploration and production of minerals in the United States while preserving, protecting, advancing and representing the interests and rights of mineral and royalty owners through education, advocacy and assistance to its members, to NARO chapter organizations, to government bodies and to the public.
Burnett is a member of Pennsylvania NARO’s legislative committee and has been active in NARO’s ongoing effort to amend and clarify Pennsylvania’s Guaranteed Minimum Royalty Act. He also speaks regularly at the Pennsylvania chapter’s annual conventions, and has organized and sponsored numerous town hall meetings throughout Pennsylvania in order to educate landowners and royalty owners on impactful legislation and other oil/gas legal matters.
Burnett is the chair of Houston Harbaugh’s Oil and Gas practice group. He represents landowners and royalty owners in a wide array of oil and gas matters throughout Pennsylvania. A recognized authority in oil and gas law, Burnett is frequently interviewed and quoted by the media and invited to speak at conferences on oil and gas law matters throughout the Commonwealth. He serves on the Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s (PBI’s) “Oil and Gas Law Advisory Committee” and is a contributing author of PBI’s The Law of Oil and Gas in Pennsylvania (1st Ed. 2014). He is also a member of the Executive Committee and lecturer of PBI’s premier oil and gas law program, the annual “Oil and Gas Law Colloquium.” Burnett was also recently appointed to the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Shale Energy Law Committee.
