Houston Harbaugh Grows Litigation Practice

The Directors of Houston Harbaugh are pleased to inform you that our firm is growing! Effective January 1, 2018 boutique Pittsburgh litigation firm Picadio Sneath Miller & Norton (PSMN®) will be merging under the Houston Harbaugh banner. Our offices will remain at our current location at Three Gateway Center in Downtown Pittsburgh.

This growth enables Houston Harbaugh to provide a larger breadth of litigation services to our clients, and strengthens our litigation capabilities in the areas of class actions, construction, energy, environmental, financial services, insurance, intellectual property, life sciences, pharmaceutical, and products liability. As we proceed in our transition, Houston Harbaugh will retain the same culture, work ethic, and approach that you have come to know, expect, and appreciate.

Founded in Pittsburgh in 1985, PSMN is a highly-rated litigation boutique. The firm consistently has been rated AV by Martindale Hubbell and appears in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. It has been recognized as one of U.S. News “Best Lawyers”®’ “Best Law Firms.” Its principals have been recognized as “Best Lawyers” in their practice groups for over a decade, and numerous lawyers have been recognized annually as Pennsylvania Super Lawyers. The credentials of PSMN and their attorneys are impressive, but that they share Houston Harbaugh’s client-centric philosophy was a top priority in our decision to join forces.

Henry M. Sneath, principal of PSMN, will co-chair the Houston Harbaugh’s Litigation practice along with long-time chair Samuel H. Simon. Henry has extensive federal and state court trial experience in cases involving commercial disputes, intellectual property matters, construction claims, professional negligence lawsuits, pharmaceutical and products liability litigation, insurance coverage and insurance bad faith claims. He also represents clients in trademark and copyright matters and in patent litigation matters. He is Peer Review Rated AV by Martindale Hubbell, which is that organization’s highest rating. He is also a Past President and Member of the Board of Directors of the 22,000 member international lawyer organization DRI (formerly Defense Research Institute) and is the former Chair of its Commercial Litigation Committee and Intellectual Property Subcommittee.

Henry has tried more than 95 cases to jury and non-jury verdict in Federal and State Court jurisdictions and has helped clients resolve disputes through a variety of Alternative Dispute Resolution Procedures. He has also devoted Pro Bono time to the representation of battered women in Protection from Abuse hearings and trials and is active in his Church and community.

Alan S. Miller, President of PSMN, will chair the firm’s new Insurance Coverage and Bad Faith Practice Group. He will also chair its Environmental and Energy Law Practice which involves municipal, residual, and hazardous waste permitting and compliance, contribution and cost recovery actions under CERCLA and related state statutes, contamination from leaking underground storage tanks, air and water pollution regulatory enforcement actions, and real estate transactions involving contaminated and recycled industrial sites.

Alan has more than 30 years of experience in complex litigation and counseling, concentrating in the areas of environmental law, insurance coverage and bad faith, professional errors and omissions and commercial litigation. He is a former trial attorney with the Environmental Enforcement Section, United States Department of Justice, and Assistant Counsel with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources. He is Peer Review Rated AV by Martindale Hubbell, and was named “Lawyer of the Year” in Environmental Litigation by U.S. News – Best Lawyers 2017.

Please join us in welcoming Henry, Alan, and their team to Houston Harbaugh. With the expansion of our litigation services, we look forward to continuing to deliver effective solutions to clients that incorporate both legal and business strategies.
